You can accept or refuse the optional parts here, at any time, as easily as you agreed in the first place.

• Essential — your sign-in token, security values that protect sign-in, password reset and forms, and the display name, participant reference and answers for a live session you joined so refreshing your phone does not lose your place. Always on: UK and EU rules exempt storage that is strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for, and without it you cannot sign in.
• Preferences — optional. Text size and reading view on the audience screen, presenter notes size and position, and the view you last used while presenting. Refusing costs you nothing except having to set them again.
• Measurement — optional, off, and empty. We run no analytics or advertising scripts at all. The category exists so that if we ever add anything, it stays off until you say otherwise.

Cookie law is not the same everywhere, so we follow the rules where you are and never less than that.

• United Kingdom, EU and EEA, Switzerland: PECR and the ePrivacy Directive with UK GDPR/GDPR require consent before anything non-essential. You get a full banner, nothing optional is stored until you accept, refusing is a single tap of equal prominence, and no boxes are pre-ticked.
• Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Türkiye, the Gulf states, Nigeria, South Africa and other consent-based or notice-based regimes: we apply the same opt-in banner rather than the weaker minimum.
• United States, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and Texas: these are opt-out regimes. You get a clear notice and a settings link, and an explicit statement that we do not sell or share your personal information — we have no advertising or cross-site tracking to opt out of.
• Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore and elsewhere: a clear, dismissible notice with the same settings link.
• If we cannot tell where you are, we apply the strictest rules.

To decide which banner to show we read the country your connection arrives from at the network edge. We do not store your IP address for this, do not log it, and do not write the country to our database.

• Your choice is kept in your own browser with the categories you allowed, the date and the version of this notice — that is our record of consent.
• We ask again after twelve months, and immediately if the categories change.
• Withdrawing is one tap in cookie settings. Anything optional we had already stored is deleted at that moment, not just marked as refused.
• There is no cookie wall: refusing gives you the whole app, exactly as accepting does.

We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking, we do not embed third-party analytics or marketing scripts, and we do not build profiles or sell data. Our typeface is served from Slidebites itself rather than a font host, so no request about you leaves our site before you have chosen anything. Where we count usage — your own teaching impact figures, for example — it is aggregate and calculated on our own server, with no browser tracking.

• Google or Apple set their own cookies during sign-in, on their pages, under their own policies.
• Stripe sets cookies inside its checkout to take a contribution securely and prevent fraud. That storage is strictly necessary for the payment you started, and Stripe only loads when you begin one.
